Effect of Germacrene-Rich Essential Oil of <i>Parentucellia latifolia</i> (L.) Caruel Collected in Central Sicily on the Growth of Microorganisms Inhabiting Historical Textiles

چکیده
In the present study, chemical composition of essential oil from aerial parts Parentucellia latifolia (L.) Caruel collected in Central Sicily was analyzed by gas chromatography and chromatography–mass spectrometry. The results showed presence sesquiterpene hydrocarbons, with germacrene D B accounting, respectively, for 59.2% 24.3% total oil. Different colonies bacteria fungi frequently affect cellulosic objects such as books stored libraries museums. antibacterial antifungal activity against some microorganisms infesting historical-artistic craftsmanship determined, demonstrating that particularly active Bacillus subtilis, Staphylococcus aureus, Proteus vulgaris.
